PSS in Full Swing: 2026 Review and a Look Ahead to 2027 at the Cevaa General Assembly
The Cevaa General Assembly was held online on 6–7 October 2026, and the Health Solidarity Programme (PSS) took the opportunity to present a comprehensive review of the past year and outline its ambitions for 2027.
Dr Mathilde Guidimti opened the proceedings by outlining project progress: those from 2024, successfully completed; those from 2025, in full swing; and those from 2026, just getting off the ground. She focused on two projects in particular: the renovation of the operating theatre at Kirinda Hospital in Rwanda, and the creation of private rooms at the Protestant Hospital in Garoua-Boulai, Cameroon.
She also mentioned the 30/70 protocol, which she initiated: 30 per cent of the revenue from projects funded by the PSS is set aside to support new internal projects. The construction of the A&E block in Garoua-Boulai is a prime example.
Dr Guidimti then shared details of some of her trips – to the Congo, Togo, Ghana and Benin – accounts of which can be found on our website. She spoke about Mbereshi Hospital and looked back on the most recent health seminar, held in Lesotho last November under excellent conditions.
Discussing this seminar paved the way for the next one: Côte d’Ivoire will host this year’s event, from 6 to 13 December 2026, focusing on a topical theme — the financial management and medico-economic steering of PSS healthcare facilities.
Finally, our horizons are broadening: a trip to Senegal is in the pipeline, including a visit to the small Marguerite Davary health centre in Fatick. We’ll tell you more about it here very soon.
The Solidarité-Santé programme is now running at full speed. The number of annual projects has risen from four in 2024 to nine in 2026! Dr Mathilde Guidimti takes this opportunity to remind those in charge of these projects of the importance of submitting reports on time, and keeping in touch not only with Cevaa but also with the local communities at each stage of progress. Let us recall Cevaa’s motto: Share, Act, Bear Witness.
