Visit by the Solidarité Santé Programme team to Benin

As part of the July visit to three Solidarité Santé Programme facilities, we present here a photo report dedicated to the Protestant hospital Le Bon Samaritain in Benin.

Owned by the Protestant Methodist Church of Benin, the hospital is situated in the centre of Porto-Novo, the political capital of Benin, which has a population of around 200,000.

The hospital has come a long way since it was built; having evolved from a polyclinic, it now offers a wide range of services (A&E, general and specialist medicine, surgery, maternity and antenatal care, paediatrics, palliative care, rehabilitation, etc.).

Cevaa, through the Solidarité Santé Programme funded by OPM Valdese, has supported various recent and past projects, such as the construction of the maternity ward, the purchase of some of their medical equipment (autoclave, microscopes, etc.), the acquisition of an electrical cabinet and a transformer, and capacity-building for nursing staff, human resources, and even the director.

We therefore took the opportunity to affix our logo to the relevant equipment.

It was also an opportunity to meet and work with the hospital’s new director, Dr Camille Gougnimenou, the members of the management board and the president of the Protestant Methodist Church of Benin, Amos Hounsa.

Indeed, a new large-scale PSS project has just got underway: the purchase of a significant amount of equipment for the mother-and-child ward, such as beds, an ultrasound scanner, electric scalpels, etc.

Here too, there is still so much to be done, and we extend our warmest thanks to the management for their hospitality and cooperation.
